About the event
For all levels of printmaker, especially those with a keen desire to produce innovative, unique works.
A state-of-the-art printmaking technique, Viscosity Printing allows printmakers to produce non-identical multiples by layering colors on a zinc metal plate. Participants can expect to learn about the technical foundations of this printmaking process, from the preparation and use of zinc plates, to the use of magenta, cyan and yellow oil inks at varying densities, as well as unique methods for printing, including the utilization of leftover ink (also known as ghosts) and offset images to produce singular compositions. Under the expert guidance of internationally exhibited artist Katherine Levin Lau, this course offers a rare opportunity to tap into her 35 years of studio experience in monotype, and the secrets she has discovered in the process.
Katherine Levin Lau is represented by Walter Bischoff Galerie, Stuttgart. Her recent solo exhibitions include shows in Mexico and Germany. She was born in Saranac Lake, New York, and currently splits time between Saranac Lake and San Jose, California. She has been an Artist in Residence at Bluseed Studios since the early 2000's.
